Barry Bradshaw and Dave Metcalf from the Lodge of St John in Scunthorpe spent a rewarding evening presenting a cheque for £500 to charity ‘One for the Lads’.
The charity, started in November 2019 by Scunthorpe menswear retailer Des Comerford, has been created to support people suffering mental health issues, meeting for free every Wednesday between 6pm and 8pm at the Wortley House Hotel.
Des said: “Everyone at ‘One For The Lads’ would like to thank members of The Lodge of St. John for your very kind donation of £500. We all appreciate your generosity so much. It was lovely to see both and Dave and Barry staying for our meeting, and and chatting with all of our Lads and getting an understanding of what our group offers in terms of support. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you again soon.”
Dave said: “Just a big thank you from myself and Barry for the warm reception we received from everyone at ‘One for the Lads’. We had a great evening chatting around the tables and look forward to a return visit.”
The funds have come from the Freemasons’ New Provincial Benevolent Fund, which has given each of Lincolnshire’s 75 Freemasons Lodges £500 to donate to the good cause of their choice.
