Tetford’s South Wold Nursing Home is extending the spirit of caring beyond its doors to vulnerable neighbours in the village by launching a four-day-a-week light bite meal service.
Owner of the home on South Road in Tetford is Shailen Munnien, a Freemason of Spilsby-based Eccles Lodge. He explained that villagers will be able to join the home’s residents for tea, coffee, and sandwiches between 4pm and 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
He said: “We are particularly concerned about people in the village who may be living alone and finding it hard to cope for whatever reason, and we want to do what we can to improve their quality of life.
“But this is about providing much more than food for the body; it’s also about feeding the soul. By inviting people to share our teatimes we want to strengthen the sense of community in Tetford, giving people something to look forward to, and to find new friends by sharing a chat and a laugh with people in similar situations to their own.
“All we ask is that people telephone to let us know they intend to come, and we can prepare enough sandwiches!,” he added. Please phone (01507) 533393.
