Nick and Kay Burton proved they’re a ‘top couple’ by stepping in a new direction and staging a ceilidh for their Ladies’ Night.
More than 70 people voted with their feet that it was a good idea and went to the event at Winterton Rangers Football Club – a venue new to Scunthorpe’s St Lawrence Lodge for social events.
Nick and Kay signed the Coronation Ceilidh Band to lead the dancing, and teach volunteers the steps for a series of energetic dances, which guests threw themselves into with enthusiasm.
Food came in the form of a hot self-serve buffet prepared by Club staff, which was thoroughly enjoyed
Nick, who’ll install Jim Bole as his replacement at Master of St Lawrence Lodge next month, said: “Behind every successful man is a woman who can’t believe it. Tonight has been made possible by Kay’s hard work. She’s created everything from the invitations to the menu cards, the Easter-themed table centres, and the way the tables are dressed. My contribution has been to do as I was told.” That contribution included dividing a whopping six kilos of chocolate mini eggs into individual bags for every guest. “And I only ate seven,” he added.
The evening ended with three rousing cheers for Kay and Nick.
