Peter Brooks thought he was on for setting a record by presenting no fewer than five Grand Chapter certificates when he represented the MEGS at the installation ceremony for the Chapter of St John in Scunthorpe.
In the event two of the recipients couldn’t attend, but Peter was still pleased to be able to present and explain the certificates to Rob Lang, David Jackson, and Ian Needham. Rob and David were invested into formal roles in the Chapter; David as 2nd Asst. Soj, and Rob as Almoner, a role he is already undertaking in St Lawrence Lodge, his Craft Lodge.
Also present at the meeting were father and son duo Jeff and Paul Vollans. Their Chapter careers could have set another record, with Dad Jeff having finished a year in active office as steward the day before, and son Paul having been appointed to the current year’s active team at the same meeting. Paul is a member of the Isle of Axholme Chapter in Lincolnshire, and the Septem Chapter in Surrey.
