The Christmas meeting of St Guthlac Lodge in Market Deeping was a proper charity giving event with three charities telling members about their vital work in the community after which the Lodge was pleased to share followed by a cheque presentation to each, from us:
Family Voice Peterborough – a registered charity actively seeking to improve services in all areas of the lives of children and young people up to the age of 25 with disabilities or additional needs.
Ousman Gaye was the representative from Family Voice Peterborough with a member of the Gambian community, Mustapha Wadda. They were given £500 from the Freemasons’ New Provincial benevolent Fund by Lodge member Andy Spridgeon.
Deeping Mens Group, a charity based in Market Deeping, provides free wheelchairs, electric scooters and other mobility aids to local residents.
Andy Yates, Gordon Young and Mike Parsons from the Deeping Men’s Group Charity receive a cheque for £130 from Geof Hovell, the Lodge Master.
Don’t Lose Hope is a charity based in Bourne, from where it offers a professional mental health counselling service for all members of the community from age four upwards. This service is delivered by a team of qualified and experienced counsellors, in private, fully-equipped counselling rooms. They rely on fundraising through their café, gift shop and donations.
Dom from Don’t Lose Hope receives a cheque for £475 from WBro Trevor Cuthbert accompanied by his wife Lisa, who both were involved in promoting the charity.
Finally, the Lodge celebrated the evening with a Chrismas White table event, with many partners enjoying a great evening and supper and raising raised £150 from the raffle, which is to be donated to Chris Jones to help with his round-Britain walk and his ambition to raise £100,000 for theFreemasons’ charity the MCF.
