A trio of new gavels and a pair of Wardens columns for the exclusive use of Spilsby-based Eccles lodge have been dedicated by the PGM Dave Wheeler.
Over the years Eccles Lodge has bought items to ensure individuality, and to help maintain the condition of many old and valuable items used at Spilsby. Two recent acquisitions have been the Wardens Columns, found on Ebay by WBro Brown and bought by the Lodge.
The Lodge had previously used gavels belonging to Shakespeare Lodge, but it was agreed that a set of Gavels be procured for the sole use of Eccles Lodge. WBro Ward nominated himself to obtain them, and cover the costs himself, using craftsmen in his workplace. After some investigation, and a little arm twisting, the Gavels were made by Eastfield Joinery of Lincoln, using English oak, supplied by WBro Ward’s company. All fees were absorbed as WBro Ward wished to present these Gavels as a personal gift to the Lodge.
Dave Wheeler and the Provincial team attended the excellent Installation meeting at which the equipment was presented, when both Lodge room and dining room were full to capacity.
