Inspired by Ashlar Lodge’s 2020 photographic competition, there’s a Province-wide version this year, with a bottle of malt whisky donated by APGM Bruce Goodman as the prize for whoever takes the best picture.
Mike Clay and Mike Martin from Ashlar Lodge have put it together, and Mike Clay explains how it works. He said: “The competition is open to all brethren and ‘candidates-in-waiting’. Last year we got some fabulous entries, and on the back of the immense support and interest – not to mention the competitiveness and rivalry of all the entrants – we have decided to throw our 2021 competition open to ALL Centres and Lodges in our Province, as well as all the candidates-in-waiting too.
“You can use anything to take the picture from an old Brownie (which I have just read about on the internet) to the most sophisticated phone or your £20k Canon setup or even submit a photo you have stored on your computer (so long as it’s not taken by someone else; it has to be your work). The competition is open from now and will close on Sunday June 6th 2021.
“There are 12 categories to enter and you can enter multiple times in each category should you so wish. The categories are very varied, so there is something for everyone.
“To make it very fair, honest and open the winner in each category will be judged jointly by our two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters Peter Brooks and Bruce Goodman, with the overall competition winner being judged by our PGM Dave Wheeler.
“It’s a bit of fun, so there’s no charge to enter and two prizes – Bruce’s bottle of malt and the (priceless) kudos having the winning picture published on our web site and in Masonic Lincs.
“In an effort to try to keep all involved – those that are actively taking exercise outside and those that are not – we have come up with a varied list categories, shown below.”
