A £500 donation from Freemasons of Grantham’s Sir Isaac Newton Lodge will help St John’s Church in the town’s Spitalgate provide a warm space where parishioners and visitors can get a hot drink and something to eat during the winter. The money was handed over to Associate Priest the Rev Clay Roundtree, left, by Lodge Almoner Melvin Dobbs.
The individual stonemasons who built the church have left their marks on it. The picture below shows marks at the entrance to the Church on its north side. Stonemasons’ marks like these are as unique as signatures or fingerprints.
