Enthusiasm greeted a landmark open day at Scunthorpe when men’s and women’s Freemasonry promoted their respective orders at the same event for the first time in Lincolnshire.
In an atmosphere that buzzed with positivity men and women were able to talk to prospective new and joining members, as well as allow others to tour a building they’d often passed and wondered about.
Dave Gibson of the organising team said: “It was a great and successful day in which we were able to come together and promote Freemasonry rather than individual Lodges. I’d like to thank everyone who helped on the day.”
One of the first visitors was Keith from the Samaritans, who said: “Thank you to everyone for making us so welcome. It was very interesting.”
Provincial Communications Officer Stuart Pearcey added: “We were also pleased to welcome members from other centres who are looking forward to their own open days. Together we are raising awareness of Freemasonry throughout the Province, and doing that in an atmosphere of positivity must surely generate new members.
“All of this work will underpin Lincolnshire’s efforts to meet the Membership Challenge, and what’s more prove that doing it can be enjoyable.”
