Provincial organist David Shepherd has been reunited with an instrument he sold new when he was a director at Allens Organs, which has moved in at Horncastle Masonic Centre.
It’s a quality instrument ideally suited to our ceremonies, since with its two keyboards, a full pedal board, and a range of stops it can deliver the softest and the most triumphal music.
Getting the organ into place wasn’t the easiest of tasks; it’s no lightweight and took some manoeuvring to get it top the stairs – a task accomplished by David, centre organists Cliff Andrew and Steve Morley, and Peter Tasker, all of whom are in our picture.
The purchase was funded by Horncastle Masonic Club, and its removal was paid for by donations from those who will play it.
