Scunthorpe’s Industry Lodge has chosen the ‘Changing Lives/Changing Minds’ charity to receive its £500 donation from the New Provincial Benevolent Fund, with the WM Rob Pursey handing the funds to Charity Director Michelle Guntrip.
The charity delivers therapeutic support for children, young people, and families struggling with mental health issues by offering counselling and one-to-one support.
All this takes place in purpose built units/cabins on a farm near Winterton in North Lincolnshire, where those needing support can receive individualised and discreet counselling in a calm and relaxed environment.
The farm also has horses and miniature ponies that the youngsters can interact with for ‘equine therapy’ to help them with their emotions and moods.
This donation is to be earmarked for developing the Centre’s ‘Hold On’ campaign aimed at providing psychiatric and coping strategies to those with suicidal tendencies ( a major increase of such incidents has occurred during the Covid pandemic lock-downs in all parts of the country).
