St Lawrence Lodge in Scunthorpe has started 2025 with the Province’s first triple initiation of the year – and a rejoining member.
The initiates were Aubrey Hansard, Craig Rodley, and James Smart, and the rejoiner, successfully balloted for, was Norman Howes.
This was the second ‘triple’ at a January meeting in two years, with one of the first trio taking on the role of Junior Deacon for the latest one.
Lodge D.C. Andy Pascoe said of the ceremony, attended by more than 70 brethren: “As a very proud D.C. I’d like to congratulate everyone who took part in the ceremony. I had no doubt that we would pull it off so that each candidate was able to experience the unique initiation ceremony, and the process with three initiated was seamless.
“Everyone played their part, from the Tyler who obtained the kit to prepare them to the Master and those repeating some of the ritual three times. The whole was held together by the Junior Deacon Ian Needham, who was superb.”
Norman Howes had been a member of the Lodge for many years, and its secretary for 13, but resigned to look after his wife, who was in poor health. Now she’s passed, he wanted to pick up his membership again. Sadly Norman, now 88, who had been at the December meeting, wasn’t well enough to attend the latest one.
The raffle raised £250 for the Lodge Benevolent Fund.
