During the last twelve months, 112 disadvantaged and vulnerable Lincolnshire Freemasons and their families have been supported by charity, the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The latest MCF Impact Report shows that nationally 3,281 individuals and families going through a difficult time in their lives, were supported by the Charity. Sadly, the need for support in Lincolnshire has been well above the national average, but that support has been there, because of you and Freemasons like you.
As we struggle with the increasing cost of living, higher mortgage payments and more and more demands on our money, £168,960 has been given in grants to cover the cost of everyday living for those who have serious problems. That money has been given by Freemasons like you to support those Freemasons and their families who need help just to live. This organisation is unique – we don’t ask for money from the public, we don’t ask for money from Charities, we simply ask Freemasons to support each other but importantly, to also support those in need in the community. That is why we are in Festival and that is why every donation you make is so important.
Provincial Grand Charity Steward Pete Tong said: “None of us knows when we might need help and none of us knows what is waiting round the corner, but it is reassuring to know that should we need help, the MCF is there to do just that.”
Grants totalling £425,720 came into Lincolnshire from the MCF and support was given to 25 local Charities to help them continue their important work in supporting people in the community.
Through your kindness and generosity and the support of all the Provinces, including Lincolnshire, who have been or who are currently in Festival, during the last twelve months a total of £19.6m was awarded in grants and services to support some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society.
For those who need support for health, care and wellbeing, your Charity has given Lincolnshire Freemasons and their families £124,527. But we look to the future, and a further £43,664 has been given to support the education of children and young people in this Province.
Pete added: “Above all, let’s not forget the generosity of Lincolnshire Freemasons, the wonderful work and encouragement of Lodge Charity Stewards and all the hard work and skill of Lodge and Chapter Almoners in Lincolnshire who, if it were not for them and people like them, families and Charities would not have got that support.”
