A Masonic tradition has been revived with Lincolnshire’s PGM Dave Wheeler becoming an honorary member of The Lodge of Merit No. 466.
The Lodge meets at Stamford although it is part of the Province of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire. Historically, it was in Lincolnshire but many years ago, when the Lodge met at the George Hotel, the Earl of Yarbrough agreed that it would be transferred to Northants and Hunts as most of the members were from that Province.
The Lodge now meets at Scotgate, Stamford, which is where Dave went to make his first visit to the Lodge this month, having been balloted for in November.
He said: I was accompanied by some travelling companions, and we were made extremely welcome. It was a busy Lodge with an initiation, a very ‘festive’ festive board and an enjoyable time had by all. As a small gift, I was able to present the Lodge of Merit W. Master with a ‘Lincolnshire’ gavel which was put in to immediate use by the DC Gordon Campbell.
“It was a super evening, made all the more special by the presence of Mark Constant, the PGM of Northants and Huntingdonshire, and one that I hope to repeat in the future.”
