Just a few places remain for the visit of Prestonian lecturer Simon Medland (above) to Lincolnshire on Tuesday June 17th – and from today they are available for any Freemason.
Lincolnshire’s Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge is one of only four Lodges throughout England and Wales to host the Prestonian Lecture this year, when the Deputy PGM of the Province of Cheshire, Judge Simon Medland, will take as his topic ‘Our Friends in the North’ , which will be a reflection of the growth of Freemasonry from its early proto-masonic beginnings.
The Stewards Lodge will be meeting at 6.30pm at the Grimsby Masonic Centre, when PGM Dave Wheeler will lead a team visit on that evening.
To book, email Stuart Butler at stuartbutler2@aol.com. The cost of the Festive Board will be £24. Scroll down to find the booking form with full payment details.
PRIORITY for the limited number of places was given to members of the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge and members of the active team (since the night is to be a team visit). Only those two groups were able to book before February 28th, but now spare places are being offered to the wider Masonic community.
History of the Prestonian Lecture
The Prestonian Lecture is the only lecture given under the authority of the United Grand Lodge of England. It takes its name from William Preston (1742-1818), who was regarded as the foremost Masonic educator of his time, and who left a legacy of £300 to provide for an Annual Lectureship. Today these are aimed at a general audience of Freemasons, rather than scholars.
