An award-winning care provider, the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) is part of the Masonic Charitable Foundation and operates 16 Homes for older people needing residential care, nursing and residential dementia support. An additional Home provides a small community for people with learning disabilities. All but one of our homes are rated ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ and provide care for up to 1,100 residents at any one time.
A new vision
The RMBI have developed an ambitious, multimillion pound 20-year vision to guide a programme of modernisation and the development of new services including retirement communities and a grant-making scheme to help fund care for those unable to access an RMBI Home.
The Board of Trustees has devolved most of the detailed work of monitoring, quality assurance, planning and development to several committees, each of which has a membership comprising trustees, executive officers and non-executive members.
Can you help?
To facilitate the delivery of this ambitious vision and expand the expertise available within its current committee structure, the RMBI is looking for people to become Non-Executive Committee members. Of particular interest are skills and experience in:
Successful candidates will be required to spend approximately one day each month to support the RMBI’s work. This time will include attending meetings (which are now usually convened virtually every couple of months), preparation for those meetings and one or two whole-day sessions in person each year. Two to three days per year will be spent visiting our homes.
As part of this process, RMBI is seeking to embrace principles of equality and diversity to create a more inclusive team.
Although founded by freemasons, applications are welcome from anyone who is committed to supporting the RMBI’s vision and work and has a passion for meeting the care needs of older people. Please share details of this opportunity with family, friends or colleagues who may be interested in supporting the work of a leading care provider.
