After representatives of the Children’s Bereavement Centre talked about their work at a Freemasons’ event organised by Sleaford’s Daedalus Lodge its members decided to support the charity’s work with a donation of £500.
The Children’s Bereavement Centre provides support to children and families from Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire who are affected by the death or terminal illness of someone they love. Lodge representative Bob Chalklin said: “The work of the charity impressed the members present; the families of at least two members had previously been supported by the charity through the trauma of bereavement. We decided to nominate the charity to receive our £500 donation from the Freemasons’ New Provincial Benevolent Fund.”
Bob Chalklin presented the cheque for £500 to Rachel Wilson, left, the charity’s Fundraising Manager. On the right is Bob’s wife Bernadette, who’s holding one of the bears that the charity donates to hospitals for children in treatment; a bit like the Teddies for Loving Care scheme run by the Freemasons.
