Freemasons of Spalding-based St Godric Lodge have cared for the 26 carers at Boston’s chemotherapy ward by donating thousands of teabags, two barista coffee machines, hundreds of coffee pods, motivational gifts, and three massage machines.
Everything was bought with proceeds from the Lodge’s Ladies Night social function, and was based on what the staff said would be most useful. In the Lodge’s group chat Master Mick Hollis said: “Just wanted to share with you the final results of our fundraising at our Ladies night. Between the raffle, which raised just over £1,200, some private donations as well as a £500 saving in costs for running the night, we raised just over £1,900.
“Today Lisa, her friend Keri and I went to the Chemotherapy ward in Boston to drop off a care bundle to reward them for their caring. Our visit was truly emotional. A lot of tears were shed by Keri, Lisa and the staff. I just about held it all together. The rest of the money will be going to cancer research. There is more to this story on the St Godric page on Facebook; please have a read.”
