A chance visit to a Sunday market in the Cotswolds has led to the return of two Hope Chapter jewels to their rightful home at our Sleaford centre.
They were discovered by Third Provincial Grand Principal Mike Carter, who handed them back during an official visit to the Chapter. Mike said: “A Sunday market stall in Bourton on the Water was selling Masonic items, amongst which were two jewels inscribed as having come from Hope Chapter 588. I bought them with the intention of ‘repatriating’ them.
“Both are inscribed PRESENTED TO E COMPANION H E MARTIN FROM THE COMPANIONS OF HOPE CHAPTER No588. 1978. I suppose the mystery will always remain as to how Lincolnshire Royal Arch jewels found their way to Bourton on the Water.”
