There’s always something new to learn about Freemasonry – and a dedicated group of Lincolnshire Freemasons are doing their best to fill in the gaps in our collective knowledge. They’re the Provincial Learning and Development Team, who are looking to fill the diary for the year ahead.
Under the leadership of Paulinus Lodge member Nick Brown the ten-strong team offers a series of talks guaranteed to have you saying ‘well, I never knew that’.
What they have to offer has been brought together for the first time in a prospectus of talks under the banner ‘YouLearn’, which has been circulated to Lodges and Chapters.
Says Nick: “We have talks appropriate for Lodges and Chapters and some that are equally at home in either. Members of the team will be happy to visit any of our centres to present them.
“A presentation from a member of the L&D team can provide a welcome break for the cycle of degree ceremonies and installations, and do much to help us make the daily advancement in masonic knowledge every Freemason is encouraged to do by the final thoughts of the charge after initiation.”
The available talks cover topics ranging from the meanings of the three Craft degree ceremonies and the Royal Arch exaltation to the Royal Arch jewel and the contents of the UGLE coat of arms.
Nick added: “Please don’t think these are dry and dusty academic talks; there’s a degree of light-heartedness in them, and I’m sure they’re all thought-provoking.”
In the picture above Nick, in black jacket, and members of the L&D team look at the Platonic solids of the Royal Arch.
This programme is far from complete. “What we present and where we present it is in the hands of the Lodges and Chapters themselves, and we fit in with their needs and meeting dates,” said Nick. “Anyone interested in arranging for a talk from the team should email me in the first instance at nicktheonion@hotmail.com.
