We, at the Boston Masonic Hall, have over the years had several fine organ players adding an essential ingredient to our meetings in Lodge.
Unfortunately, over the years several Brethren have retired from playing and Lodges are now without music. However, by the generosity of the late W. Bro Philip Green’s family (past member of Lindis Lodge No. 4690), Boston Masonic Hall was able to install a replacement organ capable of playing pre-recorded music.
Very kindly, W. Bro David Shepherd, Prov. Grand Organist (see attached picture), recorded onto ‘floppy disc’, several tunes including the Opening and Closing Odes etc., so that all Lodges that meet at Boston can now enjoy the sound of music during their meetings.
As a bonus, the replaced organ was donated to Tom White, a music student in South Lincolnshire.
Following the donation, John Lyon, Director of Music for the Parish of Boston, sent the following note:
‘The generous donation of the organ from the Masonic Hall has allowed Tom to fully pursue his interest in organ playing and further develop the skills he has already committed to improving. It has provided him with a home practise instrument that can meet his needs, and which is totally accessible, for which I am very grateful.’
