Three Freemasons Lodges have got together to help a support group for sufferers of memory loss ands dementia as well as their carers.
Between them Grimsby-based Astral and Lord Heneage Lodges and Lincoln’s Ashlar Lodge have given £950 to Bob’s Brainwaves, founded a year ago by Chris Suich after her experiences when her husband Bob was diagnosed with Dementia in 2015. The aim of the charity is to support people who have been diagnosed with memory loss, early onset dementia and to assist their carers.
The charity provides a complete pack containing benefits and support information and contacts to assist carers as they begin their journey at an exceedingly difficult time. Chris is supported by Fay Gorwood, the widow of Brian Gorwood who was a member of Astral Lodge and St. Matthew Lodge. Brian was nursed at home for the last thirteen years of his life as he had a particular form of dementia caused by strokes, which resulted in him being fully paralysed and speechless.
