The quartet of Glanford Vale Lodge members who walked two million steps for charity between them in January are still waiting to see who’ll be first to take up the challenge to do the same.
With better weather just round the corner David Atkinson and fellow-walkers Mark Ramm, Richard Winning, Chris Smith thought others would be ready to ‘step up’ to emulate their feat, but so far no-one has.
They’ve challenged other Lodges or Centres to do the same, providing a reason to take exercise and raise money at the same time. They want to pass their finishing line banner, in the picture above, from Lodge to Lodge or centre to centre as others take up the challenge, so it can travel around the Province like a travelling gavel, raising money and helping members get exercise at the same time.
Says David: “All four of us – Mark Ramm, Richard Winning, Chris Smith, and I – will visit the first Lodge or Centre to accept the challenge and formally hand over the banner. We’ll also go with them on their first walk. That Lodge or Centre should do the same for the next one to volunteer, and so on around the Province.”

PGM Dave Wheeler walked the Humber Bridge with the group. He said: “I support this initiative, and I think it is excellent not only in terms of keeping our members active but also as a fundraising idea.”
