Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service Fundraising Manager Gordon Scott rode in to meet Freemasons of Grimsby’s Smythe Lodge to receive a £500 donation.
Meeting Lodge members and their wives, he said: “Thank you so much for your kind donation to our charity. It will be an enormous help in our work.
“As you are probably aware, we receive no funding from the NHS or Transfusion service; everything we raise comes from generous organisations and people, as well as our own efforts.”
Formed in January 2012 by an enthusiastic group of volunteers, Lincolnshire’s blood bikers are volunteers who deliver supplies of a variety of medical supplies to hospitals around the county and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
Their out-of-hours courier service transports essential medical items such as blood, pathology and microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products, equipment and donor breast milk between hospitals and healthcare facilities.
